The FIGHT outside Japan's arena!
See how my effort during a hectic moment to take time out to acknowledge and be polite to a total stranger, later led to that exact stranger being my savior during a moment of total distress and hopelessness for me.
20 years ago, the fight game was young and un-reliable. We as fighters had much to worry about before we even made it to the arena to fight, IF we made it to the arena. Shows were cancelled, opponents didn't show or were switched without notice, rules were changed, sometimes there were no rules or time limits. Fighting in another country was far from the luxury that it now is. For one, we were ALWAYS set up to LOSE when travelling to fight an opponent in his country. Sometimes it would be outmatching us with a more experienced or bigger opponent and at times it even extended to the sabotaging of travel & hotel accommodations, food, etc... Regardless , this was all so common back then that we as fighters EXPECTED it. We viewed it al simply as part of the fight.
