Smart Enough to Have Compassion?

It takes an open mind of understanding, perception, imagination, reality, humbleness, and courage to truly hold sincere feelings of sensitivity towards other persons, like one holds towards self.

It takes time to initiate compassion whether it is through an act of helping someone, listening to someone, or just thinking about them. Many justify their absence of compassion for others by reasoning that it robs them of their personal time & energy. But beware that when we excuse ourselves in this manner we risk eventually becoming heartless and cruel.

As human beings it is important to allow ourselves appropriate amounts of time from our self to feel, and show compassion for our fellow person and beings. It is the caring heart & thinking mind of mankind that separates us from the other creatures who act on instinct and prioritize self survival. We must think and do above this simplicity.

Our offer of compassion for others strengthens our character, expands our mind, extends our patience, and empowers our spirit with the divine strength of selflessness. Take the time to feel and show compassion for others. It is revitalizing. And it's the human thing to do.
